Sludge Dewatering
Sludge Dewatering Applications
Sludge is the collected byproduct of a biological treatment process. It contains a large amount of water and is difficult to drain or stabilize. Layfield has a number of techniques available to dewater or stabilize sludge.
Layfield’s featured product for sludge dewatering is the geotextile tube. High strength geotextile tubes are a method of rapidly dewatering sludge. The tubes are filled with sludge and the water flows out through the fabric walls under gravity. Within a short period the sludge has shed most of its water and can be disposed of as a solid and not as an expensive liquid. Layfield also supplies and installs high strength geotextiles than can be used to cap sludge ponds with a permanent earthen cap. Call your local Layfield office for assistance in designing a sludge pond cap with geotextile or to evaluate which type of soil tube would work with your sludge type.
