Monofilament Geotextiles

Overview

In many cases a geotextile is a requirement with other erosion control systems. Geotextiles provide filtration underneath some type of energy dissipating structure. The energy dissipating structure may be gravel, rip-rap, large stone blocks, geo-cell, interlocking blocks, paving bricks, or just about any other type of erosion protection material. The geotextile supports this energy dissipating structure and prevents the sub-soil from washing out from behind the structure. The geotextile allows the water to flow, without letting the sub-soil wash away. Monofilament geotextiles have some of the highest flow rates available in any geotextile which make it ideal for use in flowing water applications. When used in Layfields floating silt curtains, monofilament geotextiles offer the ability to use the curtain in flowing water situtations, especially tidal flow.
