Once a mine, or portion of a mine, is taken out of service there is often a substantial reclamation effort required. Layfield has some unique products that can assist in your site reclamation including soil remediation liners, landfills, stream and channel rehabilitation products, and sludge control products.
Layfield's featured applications in mine reclamation are sludge capping and dewatering. Layfield supplies, sews, and installs high strength geotextiles that can be used to prepare a permanent earthen cap over soft sludge or tailings ponds. Sludge dewatering uses high strength geotextile tubes to allow sludge to dewater under its own weight. Both these techniques can dramatically reduce sludge during mine reclamation.
