Water Crossing
Water Crossing Markets
When attempting to construct a crossing in water there are many environmental issues to address. Silt and sediment from construction can affect fish habitat and often regulations will limit what can be done. In the case of large diameter pipeline crossings directional drilling may not be an option and a method to block the flow of the river becomes necessary. Layfield has a number of unique products that can help to control silt in water crossing construction.
Our featured products for water crossing applications include our Aqua Dam temporary coffer dams and our Turbidity Curtains. Aqua Dams have been used for over 20 years for pipeline crossings of streams and rivers. The crossing area is isolated on both sides by Aqua Dams and the river flow is diverted. After pipeline construction the crossing area can be rehabilitated before the Aqua Dams are removed. In deeper water such as lakes and oceans our Turbidity Curtains can keep silt in the construction area preventing damage downstream.
