Flood Control Applications
The control of flood waters takes many forms including emergency flood control, dams and reservoirs, levees and flood control structures, and berms and dikes for flood control near communities. Geosynthetics can be an economical addition to flood control works.
Layfield’s featured flood control product is the Aqua Dam flood control dam. This light weight, rapid response dam can be deployed rapidly to site to help hold back flood waters. Typical flood control Aqua Dams are 3 ft (1 m high) and supplied in lengths of 100 ft (30 m). Aqua Dams can be installed much more quickly than sandbag dikes and do not require extensive sandbag clean up after the flood. Our other feature product is our geogrid reinforced embankments. Dikes and berms built with geogrids or other reinforcement are stronger and more reliable.
